High Fructose Corn Syrup [HFCS] is everywhere -
not only beverages but many foods use this
relatively cheap and unhealthy sweetener.  It is
even used in ketchup.  More is being understood
all the time about how HFCS contributes to obesity
and to a general state of poor health.  Why do so
many energy and soft drinks use this as a main
ingredient [many list HFCS or some other fructose
product as the primary ingredient after water]?  
Because, my friend, it is cheap!
